The Driving Force Of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park From The Perspective Of Relational Economic Geography

Depending on industrial zones, Satellite Region has been developed rapidly and been one of the most active regions in China. Under the concept of localization and globalization, industry zones, as the representative of region development, have received considerable attention in the last few years. The exploration of the region development impetus within academia is accelerating and deepening the new concept of economic geography."Relation turn" emphasize the social relations embedded in the network behavior of economic actors, eliminate the "localization-globalization " binary opposition. As the core of the industrial base, Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park plays an important role in the construction of shanghai industry arrangement, however, it is still in the embryonic phase, coupled with the end of the traffic restrictions and other factors, thus explore the driving force of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park development becoming urgent.Relations perspective helps us understand why knowledge disseminate, absorb and formulate a virtuous driving force under certain situations and other areas opposite, therefore, this paper focus on the driving force of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park by adopting Asheim’s concept of knowledge-based classification, try to build a special relationship between the spatial scale and the regional particular factor (satellite area, knowledge base, regional development phase),explore the region development imputes under the assumption of spatial scales. Afterwards, the author attempt to divide three main parts throughout the whole contents as follows: theoretical analysis, the spatial scale of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park, the driving force of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park in the perspective of "local-trans-local"Firstly, this paper addresses the latest literature in the field of region development, describes the traditional regional development theory referring to the new regionalism, global production networks, and discusses their limitation in the increasingly diversified and complicated knowledge economy. Then, on the basis of the basic characteristics of the relationship economics, the author analysis four major parts: knowledge as a relational resource, scales combination in the perspective of relationship, cluster dimension, local buzz and global pipeline. Meanwhile, on the basis of theoretical research, this paper carry out practical study of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park by presenting the basic situation, comprehensive evaluation index spatial layout features, positioning and development direction of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park,which build the realistic foundation of the follow-up research. Considering the factors of regional characteristics, knowledge base and development phase, this paper assumed the origin of Lingang’s development imputes within the field of spatial scales. Finally, this paper achieved the impetus exploration of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park in the perspective of relational economy geography by analyzing the main actors, cluster dimension, local-trans-local network. Going on, this paper presents the result of Patent Cooperation networks, regional economic linkage, which highly and visually describe the impetus characteristics of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park.The results show that:focusing on Shanghai scale, the Patent Cooperation Network of Shanghai Lingang Industry Park is preliminary developed. Meanwhile, the cooperation of the parent company and sub-company relatively close than others, but cooperation ranges is relatively narrow. In the other hand, the directions of regional economic linkage of Lingang keep a high coherence with the development axis along Huangpu River and coastal harbor in Shanghai. Although Shanghai Lingang Industrial Park is forming the trans-local pipeline with other regions, however, there is still a large gap between Lingang and other industry parks.Thus, how to diversify the trans-local pipeline and integrate into Yangtze river delta region, one of the most developed region in the field of equipment manufacturing industry, is the important direction of Lingang. Meanwhile, how to build gatekeeper of Lingang Industry Park and realize the transformation of external knowledge base within Lingang Industry Park become the key breakthrough of Lingang.
