Research On Innovation Ability Of Yantai City

In the21st century, the ubiquitous "three high and one low" mode of economic growth is no longerharmony with the new urbanization and the requirements of sustainable economic development. Thisallows humans to seek new urban development model-an innovative city. Currently, Yantai facing manyissues on the economic development, such as low-tech, industrial structural imbalance, the extensive modeof production. It is found that the literature on urban innovation capability of Yantai city is very few innumber. Therefore, this paper study the innovation capability of Yantai city based on the theories of thenew economic geography, economics theories circulating. In the first, the principal component analysis isused to evaluate the ability of independent innovation in Yantai city; Secondly, the input/output model anddata envelopment model is used to analysis the ability of independent innovation in Qingdao and Yantai bycomparative method. In the end, Yantai city have some weakness should be improved, which include theinnovative science and technology investment, technological innovation, industrial restructuring,innovation and environmental improvement, then proposed some ways to enhance the capability ofindependent innovation of Yantai city.The urban innovation ability of Yantai city were studied in six parts of, as follows:Part Ⅰ: Describes the background and significance of this study, the main research content, ideas andtechnology roadmap.Part Ⅱ: Firstly, do the research of the progress from three perspectives: the definition of cityinnovation capability, the evaluation system, the methods. Secondly, discusses the theories of neweconomic growth and innovation systems. Finally, propose the research methodology in this paper. Part Ⅲ: Based on the principles of building index system, put forward the innovation abilityevaluation index system of Yantai City.Part Ⅳ: Firstly, introduce the basic overview of Yantai City, the study of area units and data sources.Then, do the principal component analysis on the five aspects (i.e. knowledge innovation capability,technological innovation, economic performance, innovation, innovation environment, integratedinnovation capacity) in Yantai city form the year2001to2011, identify factors of affected the innovationcapability in Yantai city. Finally, select innovative city–Qingdao to do the horizontal comparison withYantai city. Compare input, output, overall efficiency in development of the two cities in2002-2011andfind the advantages and disadvantages in progress of innovative development of Yantai city.Part Ⅴ: According to the state of independent innovation capability of Yantai city in2011, comparedhorizontally with the Qingdao city, and made the targeted approaches to enhance the innovation capacity ofYantai City.Part Ⅵ: Conclusion and Outlook. This paper summarizes the main conclusions and proposes thefeatures and shortcomings of this article.
