An Analysis Of Export Competitiveness Of Guangdong’s Mechanical And Electrical Products

China’s economy has been grown rapidly since reform and opening up. AndGuangdong is undisputed leader in trade and economic development. As mechanicaland electrical products, which have become a pillar industry in Guangdong, reflectsthe level of industrialization and economic development, the research on the export ofelectromechanical products is significant.The paper adopts data and facts to analyze the characteristics of the export ofGuangdong electromechanical products in many aspects, such as trade volume,products structure, and target markets. Then, to illustrate the internationalcompetitiveness of Guangdong electromechanical products by export growth rate andtrade competitiveness index (TC index) on different business entities, trade mode, andcommodity group respectively. Under the complex domestic and internationalsituation, we found that Guangdong electromechanical products export have manytraits as follows: Guangdong’s weight in the national trade volume drops though tradevolume increasing yearly, has a strong competitive advantage in the internationalmarket, the proportion of private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises of exportvolume increased and state-owned enterprises decreased, over-depend on processingtrade though general trade appears to be on the rise.The international competitiveness of Guangdong electromechanical productsshow an upward tendency, but there are still many problems and shouldn’t beneglected, such as an unreasonable export structure, the poor fundamental of scienceand technology, inadequate government support on strategic emerging industries,standardize production hasn’t deeply promoted, incomplete social services system,and so on.In response to the above mentioned problems, we present the followingsuggestions to enhance the competitiveness advantages of Guangdongelectromechanical products’ export: driving enterprises to carry on synergisticinnovation, implementing the brand-driven strategy, establishing enterprises’ overseasmarketing network, promoting foreign direct investment, and so on.
