With the trend of globalization is increasingly obvious, the Chinese global manufacturingbase is facing the serious challenge of rising raw material prices&labor costs. How toimprove production efficiency by scientific and reasonable incentive means, and then formthe core competitiveness of medium and small manufacturing industry, becoming the problemfor small and medium manufacturing industry’s needs to solve imminently. Performancemanagement has become the first selection of many companies.As the core work of human resources management and even the enterprise management,Performance management is the powerful tool to improve the organizational efficiencyand individual staff efficiency, is the enterprise indispensable mechanism for effectivemanagement, decision-making and control. Performance appraisal is the most importantcontent in the performance management and also the most difficult work. Performanceappraisal is more and more important as the tool to improve the performance of employeesand enterprises.The main purpose to measure every employee’s goal completionstatus scientifically&fairly, and feedback to employees in time, help employees tounderstand the work itself, adjust in time, reach to promote enterprise overall goal by reach itsgoal itself。In view of the significance of performance appraisal, in this paper, based on literatureand theoretical study, combines with the company’s actual situation, adopt the method thattheories and fulfillments conbine together,conducts the research to the performance appraisalstatus,analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of various assessment methods andapplication range.Use the survey to diagnose the existing performance appraisal systemproblems.ensure the problems existing in performance appraisal system in the indicatorssetting,standard setting,communication,feedback and result application. to propose targetedsuggestion from every aspects of performance appraisal system, to arouse the staff’s workingenthusiasm, initiative and creativity,to improve efficiency and achieve company goals,forming the unique corporate culture,to promote enterprise talents attracting, training,developing and retaining, to provide support for the sustainable development of enterprises, toensure good assessment system. On this base,it will have higher reference value for othersmall and medium sized private manufacturing enterprises to establish and improve theperformance appraisal system.
