In recent years, with the development of economic and improving of people’s livingstandards, per capita consumption of edible vegetable oil increased year by year, but oilseedsacreage is shrinking and self-sufficiency rate of production is also getting lower and lower. As aresult, China’s oil supply is more and more serious. Shandong, as a peanut production province, has a long history of peanut cultivation and its planting techniques at the advanced level in ourcountry, which is also China’s major production base for peanuts. As the major oil crops andcash crops, peanut planting plays a very important role in stimulating rural economicdevelopment. So if we can fully tap its potential planting peanuts, improve production efficiency, increase productivity, then we can promote the sustained and stable development of the peanutindustry, increase farmers’ income, alleviate the current pressure on soybeans and other oilseedsimports, which also has an important strategic significance in safeguard the security of China’soil industry oil industry.Based on the relative statistic data of the peanut production in Shandong province, thisarticle make an overall analysis of peanut production conditions, distributions and Changes ininput-output, then lead to follow-up analysis of peanut production efficiency.Focus on TFP,aided by a single factor productivity analysis, respectively from the province and the nationalview, this paper use Torngvist-Theil index and Malmquist index to carry on the empiricalanalysis of total factor productivity of peanut production in Shandong and use data envelopmentanalysis (DEA) method to analysis the shortfall or redundancy in each inputs and outputs factor, the put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. Through the study foundthat: firstly, compared with other provinces of our country, the peanut’s single factorproductivity is in the middle level; Secondly, TFP plays a more important role in peanut yieldcompared with inputs factors, but with other crops in the province and with other major peanutproducing provinces in China, the TFP is In a relatively low level for the main elements andtechnical progress and technical efficiency does not adapt, Thirdly, through the analysis of inputand output factors, we found that there is a serious waste of inputs in peanut production inShandong, such as the amount of labor, direct material costs and indirect costs all exist the caseof excessive investment.
