Fire is a major natural disasters which affects People’s Daily life, it is a serious threat to people’s personal and property safety, how to prevent fire effectively in the early time is becoming the urgent need to solve the problem. The traditional fire alarm devices via a sensor to detect smoke or flame in the process of the fire smoke, such as low efficiency and is sensitive to changes in the environment. With the rapid development of machine vision and embedded technology, smoke detection based on image technology arises at the historic moment. Through the method of software on the basis of Cameras and Surveillance to join the smoke detection algorithm, make s up for the deficiency of the traditional smoke detection equipment s.This article is based on Tronlong’s OMAPL138 development board, sets up a video smoke detection server. The smoke detection algorithm and static and dynamic segmentation algorithm are transported to DSP side, video capture and video transmission are running at the ARM side. In the ARM side,the video capturing、 video coding and video transmission are based on the technology of V4L2、 FFMPEG and Live555. Client video player realizes the function of video display by the technology of SDL, and outputs of smoke detection algorithm performance.
