RFID is a non-contact automatic identification technology, which can be used to identify target object automatically and obtain relevant data through RFID signal. RFID has great industrial potential and broad market prospects, and it can be applied to logistics, manufacturing, transportation, retail and other industries. Using RFID middleware in RFID applications can reduce the complexity of system, and accelerate the implementation process, thereby facilitating the promotion of RFID technology. It has great theoretical value and practical significance to study in RFID middleware technology and propose application solutions based on RFID middleware. In this paper, the work includes:(1)Study in the key technologies of RFID middleware, research and analyze the architecture and features of RFID middleware produced by research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad.(2)Analyze the characteristics of China’s third-party logistics services and identify the challenges that companies face as they embark upon the journey of implementing a RFID-based system; propose a RFID application solution for logistics based on RFID middleware.(3)Taking RFID application in China’s third-party logistics as background, propose and implement a RFID middleware for third-party logistics, which follows EPCglobal specification. Carry out a detailed analysis of the design and implementation of core functionalities, such as device adapter, device configuration and management, data process, communication management, application integration, data exchange and sharing, etc. Provide approaches for practical problems, such as the centralized deployment and distributed deployment of RFID middleware, the integration of middleware and enterprise information systems, etc.(4) Analyze the business process transformation after applying RFID technology in third-party logistics; expound the importance of RFID middleware in the new business process; test the functionality of RFID middleware, such as device configuration, reading and writing tags, real-time data processing,system integration, etc. Verify the practical effect of RFID middleware in logistics operations.This paper provides a new approach and reference for the development and implementation of RFID middleware and the design of RFID application solution based on middleware. The paper also provides a validation for the application of RFID middleware in logistics industry.
