A variety of natural disasters has obvious regional characteristics, namely, the large quantity of monitoring points, the scattered distribution of monitoring points as well as the large monitoring area, and traditional monitoring systems generally can not meet their monitoring needs. The Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) can conduct real-time monitoring of environment and objects through various sensors, process the information through embedded system and then transmit data to the user terminal through self-organizing wireless communication network by means of multi-hop routing. In this way, the difficulty of data acquisition and transferring in scattered monitoring points can be overcome, but it still requires the use of other long-range communication technology to transmit data to the monitoring center. Compass Navigation Satellite System(CNSS), the signal covering the whole of China’s territory and its surrounding areas, along with its short message communication function, is secure, reliable, stable and highly confidential, thus suitable for long-distance transmission of data.Given the three backgrounds above, this paper combines the short-distance data transmission technology of WSN with long-distance data transmission technology of CNSS,into the use of regional monitoring systems, carries a research and finally designs a regional monitoring system based on WSN communications Compass. First, the overall structure of regional monitoring system based on WSN communications Compass was constructed,exploring a feasible way for the application of WSN and CNSS in the field of regional monitoring system; second, the perception layer of the regional monitoring system, the WSN regional monitoring subsystem, was designed, namely, the overall structure of the system design, hardware design and software design; third, after understanding of the CNSScommunication processes in-depth and making a detailed analysis of the monitoring data transmission, this paper puts forward data transmission mechanism and the corresponding application layer communication protocol suitable for regional monitoring system, while using chip technology design and exploit the gateway( data protocol converter) to achieve transparent data transmission between WSN regional monitoring subsystem and CNSS communication systems; fourth, after making a analysis of designed needs of the general-purpose PC machine monitoring software, combined with its own characteristics of the WSN regional monitoring based on CNSS communication, the modular design of the PC software and workflow software modules were designed in the case of modular design thought, and developed the software under the condition of the use of serial communication based on this, Access databases, ODBC database drivers and other technical means in the integrated development environment Labview. Fifth, the various functional modules of the system were tested, and the results were analyzed, confirming the feasibility of the system.
