With the rapid development of society, the waste of energy consumption has a risingtrend. Therefore, responding positively to the national call of energy conservation and promoting the work of energy conservation mean a lot to the society as a whole. To achieve the economical use of energy, we have to monitor the usage of energy. Only through the collection and analysis of energy consumption data can provide efficient and rational guidance to the distribution of energy. The most important part of the monitoring system of energy consumption is data collector. The real-time and accurate collection, storage and management of the data of Smart meter has a vital significance.Based on the specific needs of data collection of energy consumption, a device specifically for data collection ofbuilding energy consumption has been designed- Data Collector.Firstly, analyzing the research background and significance of data collector and understanding the current research, this paper propose the research main content.Secondly, combining with the design requirements ofdata collector, it provides the overall hardware design of data collector, in which STM32F103VET6 is chosen as a processor. Inaddition, RS-485 is used as communication interface among data collector and meters. It offers the detailed design of Microcontroller peripheral circuits, power supply circuit, RS-485 and RS-232 communication module circuits,ethernet communication circuit and hardware anti-jamming. Thirdly, combining with the design requirements ofdata collector, it provides the overall software design of data collector.Inaddition, based on embedded μC/OS-IIoperating system, it offers the transplant of uIP.Also, it offers the programming of data collection, the implementations of Modbus-TCP and the encryption processing of data. Fourthly, it provides the design of configurationsoftware of data collector, which is used for the configuration of data collector conveniently. Finally, based on the design requirements of datacollector, it has tested the functionality and performance of data collector and configuration software. Results of the tests show that the data collector accord with the anticipative design goal.
