In new media era, the advancing technology brings both opportunities and challenges to the traditional museums. There are no governmental full funding for more and more museums so that they must look for the way that how to balance developing the culture and making money. Under the background of new museum theory, the National Palace Museum in Taiwan(all of the following are referred to as "NPM") has become one of the most successful cases of developing cultural creative industries in the worldwide through more than 10 years of digital plans.There are two famous parts in the NPM’s cultural creativity development. The one side is building cultural creativity environment in both virtual NPM and digital NPM. Since 2002, the museum launched a series of digital plans to make their collections to be variety of digital images.This process had realized the NPM’s digitization plan that made the further research and practice came true. At the same time, NPM worked with professional design teams in Taiwan to create more than 4200 fabulous cultural creative products. They also held many cultural creative industry workshop and the national treasure design competitions. Nowadays we all know the brand of“Products of NPM”. Besides, these goods had created huge economic value that could match the museum’s tickets income. Therefore NPM could offer enough funding for the museum’s public welfare undertakings.The other side is the new tech knowledge display and communication of NPM. They integrated "technology, culture, creativity, media and collection" as an effective way, which has been an impressive “identity card” from all over the world. “The Global Information Network”with rich content is a good example of displaying modern digital museum. People also have a real new way to wander museums through NPM’s effort.Therefore, this study to NPM uses the case study method, observation method, the visual method and text method. I was trying to find out how the museum cultural creative industries developed in the new media environment and the reason why they could succeed. This would have great significance to our museums in China, especially in the western region.
