With the development of information technology and information technology, broadband communication network has been greatly developed, and the network has offered great convenience to people’s work and life. People are no longer satisfied with the traditional web browsing, file download and other basic forms of Internet, and raise more service requirements for network resources. Technology and needs of users promote the rapid development of streaming media applications which promote the streaming media technology widely used in news release, video on demand, distance education, telemedicine and other services, and its rich content of the performance of the form, giving broadband applications more entertainment and interoperability. Today, while the unique entertainment and interactive Internet TV will become an important part of family products, video and entertainment will become the main content of family consumption. CDN is a kind of new network that the internet content will be released to the network edge which is the most close to users by adding a new layer in the existing internet network architecture. Moreover, CDN can allow users to obtain the content nearby, solve the internet network congestion, and improve the service quality that is obtained by users.In this paper, we firstly analyze the user’s service needs, the importance of the streaming media and streaming media technology. This paper analyzes the research results of current streaming media technology at home and abroad, and introduces the basic structure, network architecture, key technologies and the advantages of QoS technology in the field of CDN technology.Then, according to the technical characteristics of CDN, a streaming media distribution system based on CDN is designed, which includes the requirement analysis, the design of server, the design of topology structure, and the key technologies and strategies. In this paper, some of the specific functions of the client is designed in detail including the client’s each module, and the client’s process is also described. On account of some behavior characteristics of the user, the key strategy is optimized to improve the performance of the system.Finally, through the construction of cable TV platform CDN, the Internet TV business as the starting point, more extensive applications of the family are achieved which use the set-top box to create a home business open platform. Platform can achieve docking with a number of licenses, provide users with video on demand, back to see and other video services, support flexible deployment of autonomous business.Finally, through the construction of cable TV platform CDN, the Internet TV business as the starting point, around the set-top box to create a home business open platform, to achieve more extensive application of the family.
