The paper,"The Technology of CDN and its Research Application on Media on Demand System"is developed by integrating the"Non-Real-Time Education System"which is one task of MOST's(Ministry of Science and Technology) National Key And Technologies R&D Project of the Tenth five-year Plan:"Network Education Key Technology And Demonstration Project".The paper is to study the key technology of Content Delivery Network and develop software CDN based on the Media on Demand System, becoming a overlay on the Media on Demand System. It manager the media resource and the user uniformly and improve the service quality and perfecting the management of the Media On Demadn System..The paper begins with the rationale of Content Delivery Network. First it introduces the conception, theory and framework of Content Delivery Network, and gives the framework suitable for the Media on Demand System. Then this paper emphatically studies two key technology: load balance and content distribution, analysising their strategy and designing the strategy of the load balance and content distribution suitable for the Media on Demand System. In addition, the paper introduces the SNMP, by which the information collection of CDN is realized.Based on the relative theoretic analysis and the strategy design, the paper introduces the software CDN based on the Media on Demand System suitable for Network Education, which is designed and developed by ourselves. It describes the architecture , function models and it's implemental strategy and method. Then, it introduce the design and development of CDN management platform. At the end of this paper, we give the concrete scheme of the improvement and consummation for this software CDN based on Media on Demand System.
