The 3D printing technology, known as an important symbol of the third industrial revolution, is developing rapidly in the area of manufacturing industry. The 3D printing industry in China is still in the primary stage of development, lack of sufficient research and development, especially in the field of 3D printing software. Most manufacturers prefer to use foreign software rather than research and develop their own slice software independently. In response to this status quo, we study the theory of the slice software for 3D printing based on FDM technology, and analyze the common defects of the FDM technology during the actual printing process, then propose an improved design and implementation methods of 3D printing slice software in order to optimize the input model data, improve printing efficiency and molding quality.Firstly, the paper analyzes the defects of the FDM technology, such as the warp deformation, the detail printing flaw and the oozing defect. On this basis, an improved design scheme of slice engine software is proposed, which consists of model data input module, model data process module and CNC G-code output module.Secondly, the thesis expounds the implementation and optimization of each module. In model data input module, optimization algorithm of model data based on STL format is proposed to simplify model data and detect model errors. In model data process module, a detail printing area measure method is proposed to improve the detail printing flaw. In CNC G-code output module, an optimized method of extrusion width control and structure methods of base frame and ooze shell are proposed to improve molding quality.Finally, few contrasts are implemented to verify the improvement of the molding quality thanks to our 3D printing software.
