Digital halftone technology also called digital screening; it uses the low-pass characteristic of human eyes to achieve the sense of continuous image. Using this technology can get the reproduction of the continuous image in the binary equipment. The dot gain phenomenon (including physical and optical dot gain) is happen during the halftone image transfer to the print media when using the print equipment. It can reduce detail, less the level tone of image which gets by the printer. For the dot gain phenomenon of the laser printer, the main aim of this paper is to establish a newly uniform dot gain model to describe the dot gain characteristic of laser printer and using the halftone algorithm give the restraint of physical and optical dot gain during the print process. Firstly, we use the point spread function to set up the uniform dot gain model based on physical model of print dot. Then following truth that error diffusion halftone algorithm is used widely in the laser printer to get the reproduction of the continuous image, we put forward a newly error diffusion algorithm based on the uniform dot gain model.Lastly,the new error diffusion algorithm is modeled by the MATLAB, result show that the newly algorithm can enhance the detail,the tone level of image.
