With the rapid development of the Internet, remote monitoring technology can satisfy the need of office anywhere at any time and meet the requirement of remote instruction so perfectly that it attracts more and more attentions in many fields of research and implementation. In the field of accelerator control, remote monitoring system is being extensively used by both the domestic and overseas renowned laboratories; domestic industrial irradiation accelerator develops rapidly but still uses monitoring system based on local mode, which cannot meet the needs of accelerator manufacturers and the accelerator users because all of the data and operating status can only be displayed on the local computer and cannot be controlled and modified by the users. Based on the situation, this thesis aims to meet the remote monitoring requirements by designing and developing a remote monitoring and control system for industrial accelerator.Firstly, the development status, trends of irradiation processing and remote monitoring technology are introduced, meanwhile, the purpose and significance of the remote monitoring and control system are stated. Then the thesis discusses related technology, such as network protocol, socket programming, OPC(OLE for Process Control) technology and data security solutions and so on. Then according to the requirement analysis and modular design, this thesis gives the overall design of the remote monitoring and control system for industrial accelerators, including local monitoring software, data collection program, the server and client programs. Local monitoring software can monitor operational state of the site devices based on Programmable Logic Controller(PLC). Data collection program realizes remote data upload, store, and download function by exchange data with local monitoring software using OPC technology, and exchange data with serve by using socket technology. The server uses multi-threading technology to realize login, logout and data exchange function with data collection program and client, and keeps the operation record stored in the SQL Server database. Client programs include remote control client based on C/S(client/server) and data-showing client based on B/S(browser/server). Remote control client uses MFC to design Graphical User Interface, and in order to ensure better real-time performance, it exchanges real-time production data with data collection program via server to realize real-time monitoring, and exchanges historical data with the SQL Server database using ADO technology to realize historical data query. Data-showing client must use a browser to display the real-time data and alarm information. Besides, this thesis also analyzes the impacts of real-time performance and safety factor on remote monitoring and control system for industrial accelerators, and puts forward improvement methods. And then by way of VC++ tool, this thesis realized remote data acquisition, real-time data monitoring, parameter control, expert guidance, historical data query, devices and users information inquiry and statistics, authorization management and other functions. Finally the system testing and the trial run show the effectiveness of the system.Implementation of this remote monitoring and control system for industrial accelerators can not only solve the problem of traditional on-site monitoring system which cannot supervise and control the accelerator conditions at anywhere and anytime, but also improve the poor real-time shortcomings of remote system using the database as the only data source. The results of testing analysis show that the design of remote monitoring system for industrial accelerators can satisfy users’ needs and can monitor and control the production process of industrial accelerators.
