In recent years, the phenomenon of cynicism is in high frequency in the online media in China, and gradually evolved into the ideological trend. In this zeitgeist, all kinds of phenomena of cynicism appear continuously in the network, which understood even identified widely by internet users and a large number of people.Through these phenomena, it is not difficult to find that the lack of public faith. People are indifference and ridicule to social, and suspicious of everything, which fully demonstrate the influence of modern cynicism. Not only the public including the netizen,but also the media as a representative of the mainstream ideology in order to cater to public taste participate this cultural binge. The prevailing trend of cynicism in online media is not only the result of inheriting the traditional Chinese culture of cynicism gene, but also the result of the crisis of credibility during social transformation and the loss of faith according to consumerism culture. Although cynicism has positive side that people have a certain enthusiasm, but its prevalence is bound to have a negative impact on personal, social and even the country.It’s very important for us to understand and grasp the idea of the current state of the masses to research cynicism according to the current academic study of cynicism., however, the study of cynicism is less. This study regards cynicism phenomenon as the research object, combining the related theory of communication, sociology and other subjects, comprehensively introducing cynicism phenomenon in the online media. At the same time, from the four perspectives namely historical tradition, social reality, consumer culture and technology empowerment, this study interprets the reasons of the popular culture phenomenon, and to think about this.
