Type B LNG carrier is a kind of large ship for transporting the liquefied natural gas(LNG) at sea. With the demand of liquefied natural gas growing, the demand of type B LNG carrier is also growing, and the requirement for design and production efficiency is getting higher and higher.With the development of computer simulation technology and numerical calculation method, finite element method(FEM) is widely used in LNG carrier design and analysis. The design efficiency has been improved, but the process of traditional manual analysis with general finite element analysis procedures is very cumbersome, inefficient, and prone to error. In addition, B type LNG carrier is a kind of complex, high-tech product, and there are many loads and load cases in strength analysis. These lead to much duplicate pre-processing work, and the advantage of FEM calculation can not be taken full. Therefore, taking advantage of FEM calculation effectively and improving the analysis and design efficiency of B type LNG ship have great economic significance and practical value.In this paper, we studying the normative content, using the finite element method(FEM), developed a strength calcutation of structural software by using PCL and C++ based on MSC.Patran., and experts’ experience and knowledge on the analysis of type B LNG ship is integrated. The software main contents include: sloshing loads, thermal loads, yield checking, fatigue assessment. For thermal loadcase, mainly to study the thermal load, explain the basic principles and ideas of the temperature field analysis, achieves the optimal goal by realizes the BDF automatic combination algorithm. For fatigue assessment, introduce their basic principles and methods, describe the calculation methods in detail, through the load datas of external storage algorithm improves the calculation efficiency of load. Practice shows that the analysis system meets the requirements of the CSSRC for type B LNG ship, and this sytem can shorten the analysis cycle significantly and improve design efficiency rapidly.
