The Research On The Application Of WMS System In W Company

Since the digital period is coming, information management is making more and more contributions for enterprise operation and management decision-making.Under the background of China’s economic restructuring and labor cost rising, in order to survive in the market, the enterprises need to improve management level and operational efficiency. As an important part of operation, the warehouse material supply on time、accuracy and work efficiency will not only affect the operation efficiency directly, but also a goal for every company. WMS is an important system to achieve these targets.The full name of WMS is “the warehouse management system”, it’s full specialized designed for warehouse management. It’s using bar code and automatic identification technology for warehouse process and space management, including batch management, box id tracking, quality control management, receipt and dispatch cargo management, query data management and other functions. WMS function and advanced technology has not only been widely applied in foreign countries, but also been gradually popularized in our country, it’s setting a solid foundation for building data warehouse in our country.Based on the WMS existing research data, this paper analyzed the W corporation present situation and designed the proper process and WMS solution to optimize current situation. The application to WMS has taken great progress for W company warehouse management. The time-consuming of materials flow including cargo receipt, incoming quality control and put on the shelves from the original 48 hours decrease to 8 hours. the material stocktaking accuracy rate from original 70% up to 95%,it really solved the difficulties for warehouse management of W company. Meanwhile, this paper exampled W company as a case study for warehouse management modernization.
