With the development and application of the information technology, the people propose different requirements for data processing: transaction processing and analysis processing. The traditional MIS, though satisfying the requirement of transaction processing, cannot solve the question of data analyzing and processing effectively. Due to the advent of data warehouse technology, a method is available to solve the adverse condition of'data rich and information poor existed in the enterprise MIS. However, because the traditional two-level data warehouse based on the C/S module couldn't satisfy the increasing requirements of the information analyzing crossing areas and platforms, an alternative system is required urgently to overcome the shortcoming of traditional data warehouse system based on the C/S module. An ideal method to the above problems is proposed grounded on the combination of Web technology and data warehouse technology.Designed for product project management of electric power companies, the data warehouse application system can not only satisfy the processing requirement of common transaction in the electric power companies and power supply bureaus, but also ensure decision-makers to use the plentiful historical data for long-term analyzing and decision. The combination with web technology makes it more flexible and adaptable.Firstly, by combining with the web technology and data warehouse technology, in the paper, the author proposes a classic triple-level configuration based on the web data warehouse system, deeply analyzes each level in the configuration, its advantages and disadvantages. By analyzing the principal problems, diverse methods are proposed. To integrate the useful web data to data warehouse, a method is proposed to transfer the HTML page into XML data source combined with agent technology. Meanwhile, in order to resolve the shortages and problems of configuration based on the web data warehouse system that traditional method can't solve, by introducing the software agent technology to every parts in the web-based data warehouse system, the author proposes a web data warehouse system configuration based on the agent. The application of agent technology in the web server terminal, the application of agent in the application server terminal and the application of agent in the data warehouse system are analyzed respectively, which prepares well for the design and realization of the production project management data warehouse system based on the web.Based on deep research on the web-based data warehouse system and synthetic application of database technology, data warehouse technology, web technology, agent technology and XML technology, the author designs the production project management data warehouse system based on Web for Chongqing Electric Power Company, analyzes the configuration and characteristics of the system, and proposes a realization scheme for the system by applying the Web-based data warehouse system in the production project management.
