The international image of each city could be necessary parts of national image. Jinan is a representative of the inland provincial capital city with long history and profound cultural background. So taking Jinan as the study object and studying on construction and communication of its international image, could give enlightenment to other inland cities of China. Based on the method "the other", in this paper, we study on international image of Jinan from foreigners’perspectives, with questionnaire and depth interview survey. Through the survey, we will Figure out the impression of Jinan in the perspective of "the other". Compare it with the original city image of Jinan to find out the differences. Analysis the reason of the differences, and explore the new thought and methods of Jinan’s international city image constructing. In addition, the survey of foreigners’media habits could make the media delivery of Jinan city image more accurate and effective, so that we could achieve the desired communication effect.This paper will be divided into five parts:introduction and text. The introduction mainly explains the background, purpose and significance of this topic, research status at domestic and abroad, as well as the research ideas and methods of this paper. The second chapter mainly reviews the current situation of the development of Jinan city image, and preliminary summarized problems arisen in the process of shaping the image of the city of Jinan. As the key chapter of this paper, the third chapter mainly shows the results of survey to foreigners in Jinan, through the combination of questionnaire and interview, we find that foreigners pay more attention on citizen and city culture atmosphere in Jinan. the fourth chapter, on the bases of pre-two parts, explores the similarities and differences between the two, comparing the original city image of Jinan and the desired city image from foreigners, and then analyzes its causes. Last chapter comes up with optimization suggestions for the Jinan city international image construction and communication which are from the combination of theory and the results of the survey.
