China has gradually stepped into an aging society, and the trend of the rapid growth of the elderly population will be maintained for a long time, which will undoubtedly make China’s pension system face a huge challenge. The guardianship of the elderly living alone is a serious challenge derived from the aging population. High voice about using intelligent monitoring system to solve the problem of elderly people, who are living alone, are also increasing along with the increasing investment on this issue.With the development of ultra large scale integrated circuit, semiconductor and computer, the Internet of Things presents the trend of blowout development. ZigBee, Bluetooth and WiFi, as a short distance wireless communication technology using in Internet of Things, has been greatly improved in the last decade years, and has been widely applied into the smart home, intelligent security, industrial control, environmental monitoring, building automation and consumer electronics etc.As a key state development in frontier technology, sensing technology’s great development in recent years is undoubted. More and more new sensing technologies are applied to wearable devices with the push of the growing demands of the field of wearable devices, consumer electronics etc.In this thesis, ZigBee, Bluetooth and WIFI, which are three kinds of short distance wireless communication technologies, are combined with optical sensing bracelet. And a smart monitoring system is designed which implements a full range of care for elderly people living alone. This system finishes the task of multi-dimension collection of living environment, physiological parameters and indoor activity information of the elderly, to provide full range of guardianship service for the daily life. The main work of this thesis is as follows:(1) A ZigBee wireless sensor network is designed and implemented to monitor the temperature and humidity, light, CO2 and other parameters of the elderly’s living environment and elderly’s consuming of water and electricity. Locate the room where the elder in based on BLE4.0. Then, transmit the monitoring data and room number to the cloud platform via Ethernet.(2) Physiological parameters of the elderly are collected via optical sensing bracelet, and an Android application is built to set up Bluetooth communication with the sensing bracelet and upload the data acquisition result through the HTTP protocol.(3) A cloud platform, data center of the whole system, is built to provide secure storage and analysis of the data uploaded by each subsystem, prompt a warning in time when the abnormality of living environment or the physiological parameters of the elderly occurs.
