Traveling wave tube(TWT) is a vacuum tube for magnifying the microwave signal, it is widely used in radar, electronic countermeasures, communications and other fields. With the rapid development of TWT, the consistency and stability of technique of higher requirements are put forward. The production process of TWT is involved in many procedures. At present, only a small part of the procedures can realize automatic control, most procedures are still in the state of manual operation. Therefore, the production efficiency is low and the consistency of the processing can not be guaranteed. And this resulted in lower reliability of the traveling wave tube.Clamping rod is the key part of helix TWT, this thesis mainly make a study of the key working procedure of the helix traveling wave tube, that is, automation control of the procedure of the attenuation membrane of the clamping rod. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:1. After doing analysis on attenuation membrane preparation requirements and processing method, there put forward the need of automation control in the craft procedure.2. According to the control requirements, lower machine adopts PLC controller,host machine adopts LCD touch screen. The SIEMENS STEP 7-Micro/WIN programming software and statement list(STL) programming language were adopted during the design of control system in this thesis. During the process of realizing automatic control, the control system, data transmission system, processing parameter group and automatic control software, etc. are built.3. Hardware platform of the preparation process of the attenuation membrane of the clamping rod is fabricated. This platform is simple and practical, which guarantees the control function and high reliability. The automatic control system has successfully applied to the actual work, which improves the consistency of the process and efficiency of production.
