With the rapid development of the Internet, Chinese learning websites emerge in large numbers. These sites have become the main provider of online Chinese learning resources. Because the spread of online information has no limitation in time or space, Chinese learning websites greatly contribute to the spread of Chinese language and culture, and provide convenience for Chinese learner both in and outside the country. It also provides a new method to get Chinese learning resources for Chinese learners and teachers. However, the Chinese learning websites have a variety of problems, for example, irrational planning, Lack of timely update and effective maintenance, few audiences, and so on. Whereas the current situation of Chinese learning website, this paper selects some evaluation indicators, and combines quantitative and qualitative research methods, in order to find the correlation between the factors and the characteristics and problems of the websites. At last, this paper offers some advice of construction and maintenance for Chinese learning websites.In this paper, quantitative and qualitative research are combined. Firstly, this paper selects some link and traffic metrics to be the indicators of the quantitative analysis based on webometrics. Then this paper uses correlation analysis to decide which metrics can be the measurement of the websites. Secondly, this paper analyses the differences in metrics and content between the first few and last few websites, according to the ranking of the influence and traffic indicators that selected in the first step. Thirdly, a correlation analysis for all the Chinese learning websites which are subjects of the research is conducted. Then, this paper proposes a comprehensive score method based on principal component analysis, and uses this comprehensive score to verify how significant the world rankings and network influence rankings reflect the quality of the sites. Fourthly, this paper proposes some content indicators for the site evaluation to do qualitative analysis for specific websites selected according to the quantitative analysis. Then, this paper conducts a qualitative analysis in order to find the differences in the content and design that cause the differences in quantitative indicators. Finally, some advice for Chinese learning website construction is offered according to the results.Conclusions of this paper divides into two aspects according to evaluation indicators:technology construction and content construction. In technology respect, firstly, outbound link can increase the influence of the websites, but if the network usage factor is too high, the world ranking will fall behind, reflecting the user churn. So managers of Chinese learning websites need to seriously consider the number of outbound links. Secondly, internal link on the homepage is not that important, and there’s no need and no good to set too many internal links on the homepage. Websites can use clear site navigation to guide learners. Of course, this method requires a distinct web structure. Thirdly, web managers should focus on improving the homepage, so that the number of back-links that link to the homepage can be increased. The number of back-links that link to the homepage reflects the influence of the homepage, and is related to user traffic. Therefore, increasing the back-links that link to the homepage is a method to increase user traffic. Finally, Chinese learning websites can increase network influence by increasing outbound links, especially outbound links that point to other Chinese learning websites. In content respect, firstly, the content of Chinese learning websites have no need to be comprehensive, but to have a clear positioning and provide rich and complete content in the scope of the positioning. Striving for excellence in layout, color matching, search function, and link correction is also required. The results also shows that making up the vice that affect the user experience is more important than increasing and optimizing the website’s content or form. Secondly, Chinese learning websites should pay more attention to learning features, and provide learning materials that have rich content for different learners. Offering guidance, planning, evaluation, supervision during the learning period is of equal importance. Finally, we have some advice for arranging the content of the websites in learning Chinese and introducing culture.
