Many science and technology museums in China face the dilemma of large flow of visitors and limited instructors. This paper aims to propose an intelligent navigation system basing on mobile devices for self-service.This system provides real-time positioning,visitor-based instruction on exhibits and data website views of exhibits for museum staff,who may use this data in the maintenance of exhibits.The Paper made the following works:LA comprehensive method for positioning applied in the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Museum consists of active and passive ways.In a vast space with few facilities.wireless devices are adopted to transmit positioning data to mobile users;while in exhibition halls with much more devices or articles which may hamper the transmission of wireless signals,visitors can scan two-dimensional code for positioning.The two-dimensional codes labeled on every exhibits can provide visitors the location of the current exhibition hall,bathrooms,elevators,emergency exits and other information.2.Some of the software applications are developed, including users’ registration of navigation system,two-dimensional code scanning,digitalized exhibition and data management.3.The design and method of experiment is proposed to demonstrate that the wireless network is available for positioning in Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Museum.
