With the development of automatic test system in the direction of modular, instrument system is changing to general instrument from special instrument, at the same time, the position of instrument application software which based on virtual instrument become more and more prominent in instrument system. Based on the hardware shared platform of the self-developed universal test instrument, in order to solve the problem of modular, generalization and secondary development of instrument application software, this paper proposes an instrument application software architecture which is configurable and modular. Under this architecture, all kinds of instrument software modules can be developed with the standard interface, and the modules can be customized to construct new instrument application software according the configuration file. This paper conducts the following researches:1) The overall scheme is proposed. Based on the hardware shared platform of self-developed universal test instrument and the problem in the special instrument, the architecture of modular configurable instrument application software is put forward. Moreover, the software’s concreted design and implementation method and way of are mentioned.2) The design of Standard interface of application software. In order to realize the modular instrument application software, according to the basic of instrument software system, design the standard interface of the instrument software module and its standard configuration file. During the research, the visualization of the software modules is implemented by designing the standard visualization module interface, and flexibility of the module is also improved through embedding script in it.3) The combination method of instrument application software module is researched. In order to combine the independent software modules into the overall test instrument software, the software application platform is designed and implemented. This platform can load, run and manage the module according to the configuration file, and it can also support the information interaction between the modules.4) The design and implementation of information interaction between computer and hardware shared platform. According to the demand of information interaction of this instrument software system, the system information interaction based on the configuration tool and daemon is designed. To solve the problem of information interaction between the modules on computer and hardware shared platform, the data pool application information interaction is put forward in this paper.Finally, to verify the feasibility of modular instrument application software system, Oscilloscope module, FFT module and other functional modules are implemented, and these modules are combined into a simple instrument testing application by configuration file and application platform.
