With the rapid development of computer technology, motion simulation technology as a form of virtual simulation technology,which are increasingly used in different applications environment; Different application environments have different requirements for motion simulation, so the data sources are not the same. In the motion simulation for the purpose of testing new products, The data derived from the design drawings; however, In the motion simulation for the final purpose of Virtual display, virtual reality, Most of the time is to restore existing things, usually,there is no design drawings. At this point, the reverse engineering technology will play its unique advantages.This paper is mainly about the application of reverse engineering in the motion simulation system of large scale mechanical equipment. This is different from the reverse design technology for the purpose of mechanical product design, and it’s research purpose is not identical. The reverse design techniques, which is in the purpose of mechanical product design, focuses on highly reproducible product and requires every detail and accurate;however, the reverse engineering technology, which is in the aim of motion simulation of mechanical equipment emphasis, is no longer the accuracy of single device components. It requires fast for data acquisition, data processing, 3D model reconstruction and construction of motion model for large mechanical equipment, which is existing or even have already been put into use.First,this paper introduces the scanning strategy for the dual control of the overall post local when use the three dimensional laser scanner to collect the data of the large scale mechanical equipment.This paper, from the global data acquisition and local refinement etc,expounds the problems of parameter selection, station layout, reference object placement in the whole process of data acquisition. Second, through the scanner acquired machinery and equipment global data, local data refinement discuss data reduction, data optimization, and other aspects of the data put together, the entire data processing to do a detailed study.Third,using integrated with conventional modeling methods and Fitting Surface Modeling methods,based on professional software of reverse engineering Geomagic Design X, to research the CAD model of pretreated point cloud data or surface data. Finally, according to analysis of the relationship between parts assembly, decomposition of Movement, and establishment of movement model, to achieve the motion simulation system research. In addition, using motion model to classify the discussion from the belt drive, chain drive, gear drive andflexible body motion transmission belt. Eventually gets motion simulation model of silo experimental platform.
