Since the seventies of last century, the United States Corning created the world’s first fiber since the optical fiber communication technology has been considerable development.With the development of technology, optical fiber communication technology in the management of the power grid has also been large-scale application, greatly improving the electricity network management and monitoring efficiency. At the same time, due to the physical characteristics of the fiber itself easy to break, Power cable lines once suffered natural or man-made factors will undermine fracture, causing interruption of power fiber optic communications, which will affect the electricity network management efficiency, which causes an interrupt electricity cable communication, loss of large amounts of data, which in turn will cause huge economic losses. Therefore, how to improve the survivability and reliability of power cable networks, reduce the failure rate of power cable networks and shorten the duration of the break to become a subject of great research value, there are important practical significance.In order to shorten recovery after power failure Network cable communications business time, improve their survival and stability, this paper discusses the principle and its corresponding network topology several electric cable protection system solutions. Optical protection system electricity cable network primarily by providing redundant backup optical path of the current traffic-carrying optical path to achieve protection, when the traffic-carrying optical fiber communication link failure automatically switch to its backup fiber link up, thus shortening the duration of the fault, to avoid a large loss of data.The main contents of this paper are:1. illustrates the existence of the network, and outlines a common optical network topology. Shows several power optical fiber network protected manner, comparing their respective advantages and disadvantages, and the 1:1 optical path protection scheme as the present system.2. gives several electric cable network optical path protection mode, each explained their basic principle, in 1:Basic optical path protection 1 above, the overall design of the system hardware configuration of the power cable protection systems, and detailed description of the principles and methods of its implementation.3. Design and implement the power cable protection system hardware system control module, control module using ARM+Linux system architecture, and on this basis ported NIC driver, designed and developed network communications-related applications to realized the communication power cable protection system hardware system.4. The power cable is designed and implemented to protect the system hardware optical power monitoring subsystem for the bearer traffic light path optical power monitoring, in order to determine whether or not their fault. And gives the relevant test results.
