Sorting and recognition of pulse radar signal which is the most important part of the electronic reconnaissance, is the key technology and basis of radar reconnaissance. In today’s complex electromagnetic environment, the signal density is huge, and the intra-pulse modulation and inter-pulse modulation is also more complex, which makes electronic reconnaissance becomes more difficult. These sorting and recognition processes are key to the operation of Radar Warning Receivers(RWRs) and Electronic Warfare Support Receivers(ES). These generally make use of relatively short snapshots of the environment, whereas Electronic Intelligence(ELINT) operations often make use of much longer collection periods. Nevertheless, they all demand to have abilities of accurate sorting and recognition, rapid processing of complex modulation radar signal.The thesis focuses on the various radar signal sorting and Pulse Repetition Interval(PRI) modulation recognition algorithms and their engineering realizations to do some work as follow:1. The intra-pulse and inter-pulse parameters of radar signal sorting and recognition are introduced. Several signal sorting algorithms base on PRI are studied, the advantages and disadvantages and scope of each method are analyzed.2. Given the traditional PRI sorting algorithms are difficult to sort the signal of PRI complex modulated effectively, this thesis introduces the pulse similarity to the Sequential Difference Histogram(SDIF) algorithm, then searches and extracts the radar pulse signal according to the pulse similarity which takes advantage of Direction of Arrival(DOA), Carrier Frequency(CF) and Pulse Width(PW). The simulations prove that the algorithm is suitable for the signal with different PRI modulation, and the accuracy rate of sorting is more than 90%.3. Aiming at the 4 PRI modulation types which are used commonly, 4 classified parameters which can describe the modulation characteristics of PRI are proposed. According to the feature that some PRI modulation types vary according to these parameters, the thesis researches a method of modulation recognition of stable PRI, jitter PRI, stagger PRI and slide PRI. The simulations prove that this method has a high recognition rate in the presence of 20% missing pulses.4. The hardware implementation of radar signal sorting and recognition algorithm is studied based on the TMS320C6678 hardware platform. Taking advantage of the structure of multicore chips, a radar signal reconnaissance algorithm using multi-core distribution structure is proposed. Finally, system testing results prove the sorting and recognition algorithm is effective and can be realized.
