Detective novel, with plentiful famous novelists, and far-reaching classic detective stories, has a long history in Japan. Few countries can be compared with Japan, not only because of the constantly-emerging gifted writers but also the Japanese readers’ high acceptance of detective novels. With the rapid growing of economy and the development of culture, China has become a great potential market for Japanese detective novels with no doubts. Although various books have been published in China, there are still lots of problems which limit a steady and sound development of the publication of Chinese-translated Japanese detective novel. The thesis mainly aims at the summary of the problems and puts up solutions to the Chinese-translated Japanese mystery novels published in mainland China by statistical analysis. This thesis takes Japanese detective novel in the narrow sense as research object, analyzing and researching Japanese mystery novels published in mainland China from the perspectives of readers and publishers. This thesis analyses the current situation and main modes of Chinese-translated Japanese detective novels and its readers after studying both Chinese and Japanese manuscripts as antecedent research object, collecting bibliographic data and big data and analyzing some of the classic cases, hence gives solutions to the questions which are also proposed in this paper according to related data and cases. As far as the author of this thesis is concerned, the publication of Japanese detective novels is still at its nascent stage. Therefore, it still faces some problems, despite some successful cases. Better development of publishing Japanese detective novel in China can be built on the mature experience of the publication of detective novels in Japan or those have already been proved success in Mainland China. At the same time, by means of introducing Japanese novel of excellence into China, more and more writers in Mainland China will be interested in writing detective novel, which might help cause the "catfish effect" to accelerate the development of domestic detective novel, and forming a domestic market boom in the emergence of more and more excellent detective novels.
