The Difference Analysis Of Domestic Mainstream Newspapers’ Reports On "3.1 Incident" In Kunming And "11.13 Incident" In Paris

In recent years, with the rampant international terrorism, worldwide violent terrorist incidents occur frequently. Especially, the rise of "Islamic State" organization (ISIS), combined with the "offline" military and terrorist attacks and the superb "online" media campaign strategy, will bring a new era of terrorism, the international community has caused the alarm. Priority in the international cooperation against terrorism, however, domestic and foreign media have accused each other of "ulterior motives", "double standards", based on this background, the paper explored these issues:what are the differences when domestic mainstream newspapers report the domestic and foreign similar violent terrorist event, I will try to analysis the reason behind the differences and how the ’central-local-edge’ news field tectonic domestic and foreign violent terrorist event with civil perspective.Taking Yunnan Kunming violent terrorist incidents on March 1,2014 and the violent terrorist incidents in Paris on November 13,2015 as the research objects, the "People’s Daily", "Xinjiang Daily" and "Southern Urban Daily" as the samples, I will analysis 105 incident reports of the three newspapers within two weeks. To compare the amount of coverage, the length, the form from the perspective of content analysis, and to compare the theme, structure, use of the adjectives, perspective and focus, the tone of coverage and other aspects of the typical samples from the perspective of discourse analysis. In addition, I conducted some interviews and paper-reading feedbacks on five minorities of Xinjiang as an extra material, their opinions also gave me a lot of inspiration.Analysis found that domestic mainstream newspapers’ reports on different violent terrorist incidents are different, for example the number of reports, the length, style, expression, events causes analysis, reducing on the scene, reporting position, agenda-setting and other aspects. In this regard, I believe that it is the propaganda of the media in shaping the national image, the internal positive publicity principle and the mainstream media’s desire to avoid inciting nationalist sentiment and wish to create a harmonious "pseudo-environment" and some other factors that determine these differences. While the throughout factor is the ideology attribute of the mass media. The ’central-local-edge’ news field represented by three newspapers tectonic an integral Chinese context’ narrative order on violent terrorist event under the bilateral interaction with domestic political, economic and other fields. For the current reporting situation, I put forward several proposals from the aspects of reporting content, reporting process and reporting attitude, wishing that domestic newspapers could grasp the relationships between propaganda and guiding public opinion, to keep balance between the value of news and humanistic care, absorb the essence of national reports and make our media be an important public opinion battle on the fight against terrorism.
