Fibre Channel (FC)--a high-speed serial transmission protocol with high reliability, low latency and high capacity, is the supporting technology of the storage area network (SAN) and avionics systems. The research on FC protocol processing engine and RocketIO-FC bridging technology has important practical value. This paper’s main subject is to research the optimization of FC protocol processing engine and the RocketIO bridging technology, based on a high performance FPGA and an embedded processor. It implements a 4-channels 4.25Gbps FC protocol processing engine, with concurrent multi-sequence and sequence timeout optimized.lt also implements a 2-channels point-to-piont protocol conversion between 4.25Gbps FC and 3.125Gbps RocketIO, which supporting fault-tolerance,dynamic routing, login authentication.According to the result of the test, the maximum bandwidth of the optimized FC protocol processing engine is 389.99MB/s when single channel is used, and the actual bandwidth utilization rate is 96.22%. It also can supports four channels communication at the same time. The RocketIO-FC bridge module’s maximum bandwidth is 296.05MB/s, FC bandwidth utilization rate is 73.04%, RocketIO bandwidth utilization rate is 99.34%, and the test of fault-tolerance, dynamic routing, login authentication reached the expected effect.
