Design And Implementation Of XML Based Campus Heterogeneous Database Integrated System

With the rapid development of computer and network technology, more and more campus management work relies on information technology. However, information technology also brings problems of data storage and data access, namely the integration of heterogeneous data. Heterogeneous data is often stored separately with different schema. As such data is always dispersed in different servers, with different storage formats and described with different concepts, natures and relations, it’s difficult to interoperate for each other, let alone integrate them. Along with the advance of informatization construction in campus, the need for integrating these heterogeneous data is pressing.On basis of database middleware technology, this thesis proposes a scheme to resolve the problem of heterogeneous database access on the basic of analyzing the technology of integrating heterogeneous data, therefore enhances the integration of campus database. In this scheme, XML document is used to save meta-data information, including web service registration information of local and global table, mapping of global and local table and so on. After receiving the request from the application, the service decompose module decomposes it into some sub-requests by interpretation and decomposition, and then sends to the quote module. Next, the quote module sends it to the Web Service wrapper to conducts sub-query in various heterogeneous databases and sends the results back as a SOAP to the middleware service result module. And then, the results obtained will be transformed into local XML documents by the service result module, be merged in accordance with meta-data table information by the merging module, and be sent to the application layer. After that, by taking advantage of XML technology and commonly used distributed object middleware technology, making use of the advantage of XML technology and Web Service in heterogeneous database middleware, the author designs a universal heterogeneous database access according to the general idea of database middleware, and provides the details of design scheme and its implementation process.
