Design And Implementation Of A Network Teaching System For Fundamental Of Computer Culture

Fundamental of Computer Culture is a compulsory course in the college. It plays an important role in improving students’ knowledge structure and information processing abilities.In recent years, with the increasing size and improvements of scientific research level of Dezhou Vocational and Technical College and Dezhou Techinician College, teaching objective and tasks of Fundamental of Computer Culture are getting more and more demanding. Therefore, it is required to change the traditional teaching method and to develop a network-assisted teaching system. This system would be built as a convenient and interactive teaching aid, which could help with the allocation of teaching resources as well as informatization of the course, and could improve teaching effectiveness.The author analyses the demand towards this network teaching system from many aspects, and makes an overall plan as well as detailed design according to the analysis. This system, specifically designed for this course, introduces the procedure of network teaching and adopts modular design. The system is divided into mainly four modules:Teaching Materials, Data Management, Discussion & Answer and Teaching Staff Management.Required by the current development of computer networking technology, the network teaching system adopts the structure of B/S, and sets the authority of administrators, teachers and students by ASP.NET, SQL Server and C# programming language. This system has passed tests and could satisfy the basic requirements of network teaching task of the course Fundamentals of Computer Culture.The network teaching system contains main sectors of daily teaching, and provides a stable teaching environment for both teachers and students. It is based on B/S structure, which greatly simplifies the client development procedure and reduces the amount of data. Moreover, the system is operational-friendly, and its functions could be easily updated and maintained. The implementation of network teaching system would be a good example for realization of network teaching for other course.To conclude, according to the analysis of the demand in the college for network teaching, the author designs and implements a functional, stable and efficient network teaching system with advanced technology. This system serves very well as a teaching platform for teachers and students. On one hand, the system could perform teachers’ leading functions in class; on the other hand, it could reflect students’ cognitive process, and encourages the initiatives and creativities, which therefore would improve teaching efficiency and effectiveness.
