With the development of communication technology, mobile communication is indispensable for human being these days. More than half of the people in China benefits from the all-weather, convenient and fast mobile communication without time and space limit. And this tendency is expanding. Nowadays, China has been the biggest mobile communication market in the world. In order to expand coverage and reduce the cost, the operator uses a lot of repeaters. Optical fiber communication module is an important part of communication technology, playing an indispensable role. Optical fiber communication has the characteristics of long-distance transmission, small interference, low distortion and convenient adjustment, being widely used in site operation.The RF optimal module connects the optimal signal and electrical signal from two ends. And we can have the reverse turn for the two kinds of signal using a fibre-optimal. This communication pattern can save fibre-optimal resources and simplify the connection of devices. Similar products come out at home and abroad, such as Shenzhen Fibertower Communications, Wuhan Huagong Genuine Optics Tech. But their products have a much higher price due to the intellectual property and their products cann’t meet the requirements of Chinese market. For home products, they are not highly intelligent and have worse reliability. Also they have single product category which cann’t be suitable for different conditions. The RF optimal module mainly be used in multi-point wireless transmission system and fibre-optimal end product.RF analog optical module is the signal transmit channel connecting every part of wireless transmission system. It is widely used in mobile communication base station and their optimize equipments. There are many repeaters in mobile communication system. Every year, hundreds of optical repeaters are in Shandong Unicom. The RF analog optical module made by companies can be used in their own repeaters and sold to other companies as a stand-alone product. Meanwhile, RF analog optical module is also widely used in group user special wireless network and military wireless communication network. At present, the RF analog optical module is still a blank in our city, even in our province. With the successfully development of the product, the blank will be made up. It has good social and economical benefits.This paper introduces the RF analog optimal module thoroughly. Based on this, the working principle of laser and the properties of LED was explained. Furthermore, the analog RF optimal module solution was proposed and the method and theory of the key circuits were deeply introduced. First, the laser using PIN LEDs was proposed, which has the advantages of low cost, dynamic covering, good linear features and so on. Second, the basic design of RF circuit was discussed, the theory of transmission line, signal integrity of the high-speed digital circuit and the compatibility of saving PCB space to improve the quality of products were also introduced. What’s more, it has the whole design of modules based on the above knowledge, covering choosing optimal circuits, designing the RF circuit and the circuit of digital control. This plan can not only save the cost, but also improve the integration level of modules. At last, the test plan of modules from the view of whole system was analysed, and it can test real circuit in real manufacture conveniently and meet the requirements of real manufacture for modules.
