The campus network is to provide fast and efficient services for teachers and students on teaching, scientific researching and integrated information collection. In the recent years, with the rapid development of information construction at college, works such as teaching, management and scientific research depend increasingly on informationization and its level has become the symbol of modernization at college. In the presence of the expanding informationization demand at college, the structure of campus network becomes more complicated, types of services richer, and operation and maintenance more difficult, which will result in more challenges in the campus network construction. How to build a stable and reliable campus network that is capable of being conveniently managed and operated, highly performed and has the ability to provide multi-services and maintenance has become an item worthy of research and discussion for all the colleges and universities now.The project is based on the practical demand of core network reformation in Baotou Medical College. In view of disadvantages of the present three-layer network framework, Qin Q and IRF2 have been given a comprehensive analysis so as to design a complete and feasible technical implementation scheme which covers equipment selection, technical test, core network reformation, data center transformation, uniform identity authentication, system cutover, etc. The main content is as follow:(1) The source of the project is presented and the significance of the core network promotion is set forth. Meanwhile, the present development situation of the layer 2 network technology is introduced and the present condition and disadvantages of network construction at college are concluded;(2) The present three-layer network framework and its application technologies in Baotou Medical College are analyzed to find out its disadvantages;(3) The demand of campus network reformation is presented from the perspective of management, operation and maintenance;(4) Qin Q, IRF2 and the layer 2 network framework are analyzed;(5) The details of technological implementation scheme have been discussed, including parameter analysis of equipment technology, equipment selection, technology test solution, core network reformation plan, data center transformation scheme, implementation plan of uniform identity authentication, network cutover plan and backout plan.This project is mainly focused on the solutions of operation, management, maintenance and network expansion shortcomings under the traditional three-layer network framework. Furthermore, reasonable and practicable plans have been made under the lay 2 network framework in the application and deployment of Qin Q and IRF2, which have profound guiding significance for the college informationization construction.
