With the popularity of the Internet, the computer networks not only are affecting various walks of life, but also have an impact on the traditional education continuously. In order to adapt to the new situation, a large number of colleges and universities are actively engaged in the construction of information technology. Campus network is the basis of the college information. The campus network combines education, learning, research, office and other types of systems together to achieve information exchange. The traditional campus network can only achieve simple Internet research and daily office, while the modern campus network not only provides web sites, e-mail systems, financial, ftp and other services, but also provides video on demand, video conferencing and electronic transactions. And its most important function is to support tens of thousands of terminal access service. Meanwhile, due to the defects of802.1X authentication methods in the traditional campus network, it’s hard to achieve refined management and monitor. These all do not conform to the requirements of the nation’s monitoring policy for campus network. In order to better meet users’various needs and relative policies, the network equipment usually need to be replaced if it continues to use the traditional three-tier campus network architecture. But the enormous financial pressure of replacing a large number of devices is not what we want, then the new campus network architecture appeared. It’s named flat architecture. To meet the needs of information construction, the flat architecture of the campus network only replaces core equipments. And with the use of IPOE technology, QinQ and multicast VLAN, it’s easier to achieve the refinement of the users. The main work is accomplished as follows:First, this paper makes a analysis of the developing process of the campus network, the status of the campus network currently in domestic and the problems in the campus network. Then, it proposes a solution to solve these problems.Second, this paper makes a contrast between the traditional campus network architecture which is made of core layer, convergence layer and access layer and the new campus network architecture. It’s easy to find that the new campus network architecture has more advantages.Third, this paper introduces some technics about the campus flat structure in detail, such as IPOE, QinQ, Radius protocol, and details the differences between IPOE with802.1X access authentication.Forth, this paper makes a detailed description of the core architecture of the campus network which is based on IPOE, the entire process of users’ authentication, the detailed technical principle of VB AS technology, and the perfect mixing of IPOE with multicast.Fifth, by participating in the implementation of a university’s IPOE project, this paper makes a detailed description of the specific implementation of flat network from several aspects, such as the achievement of campus network topology, the planning of IP address and VLAN label, the deployment of the accounting system, and the equipment configuration at all levels. The features of this paper exist for its combination of flat technology and program implementation. And the innovation exists for its introduction of the VBAS technology. It makes the traditional fine control means of Radius and Portal combine with flat network to achieve flexibility as well as high performance.By using H3C,Huawei switches and act. as aggregation layer switches and access layer switches, and Juniper MX960as core routing in the implementation of the project, users can access the campus network with IPOE authentication. They can also access external networks through the Portal after getting automatic dual-stack address, and with the using of QinQ technology to achieve the user’s security isolation.
