Analysis On Feature Reporting Of The Liberation Army Daily From 1978 To 2014

Compared with other types of reports, figure reports are highly valued because of their special influence, and occupy an irreplaceable position in the field of news reporting in China. From its publication, the Liberation Army Daily has attached great importance to figure reporting, which built many perfect characters in its early years. Since reform and opening-up, the Liberation Army Daily has made amount of breakthroughs and experienced rapid development in choosing report form technique of expression, target of news-report, etc. A large number of vivid characters, shaped by the Liberation Army Daily, have shown the spirit of army officers and soldiers to the fullest extent, and they have unified thoughts, enhanced the morale and guided the public opinion effectively.My study targets on all the feature reports from 1978 to 2014 in the Liberation Army Daily, sampling altogether 777 copies of the newspaper by using the methods of calender week,composite week and mixed week. The paper uses content analysis to research the feature reports. Starting by sorting out the development skeleton of feature reporting in the Liberation Army Daily, the paper has divided the course into three phases, and analyzed every phase in detail, then found the characteristics of the feature reports in each phase. Based on an in-depth understanding of the Liberation Army Daily’s development in feature reporting and a careful content analysis on them, the paper summarizes distinct characteristics of feature reports in the Liberation Army Daily since reform and opening-up. Undoubtedly, the Liberation Army Daily has made great breakthroughs and development, and given full play of its own influence. But it still has inevitable weakness. Therefore, during the analysis, my study takes the problems and deficiencies in feature reporting of the Liberation Army Daily into consideration as well. Meanwhile, the paper has put forward some countermeasures, and my research strives to be helpful to the Liberation Army Daily’s improvement and perfection in feature reporting.
