Research On The Transmission Dilemma Of The Genetic Modification Report In China’s Newspapers Under The Perspective Of Risk Society

With the development of society, science and technology have become more and more important to human life and living environment. The transgenic technology and its application to the genetically modified food, whether in domestic or international, experiencing a long time of fermentation and spread, has always been a controversial topic. In the face of genetically modified technology, people are generally in a anxious and doubtful situation. Whether the genetically modified technology is dangerous or not, the potential risk is not yet conclusive. Around the genetically modified technology, the government, scientific community, media and public have formed different positions.Media for public awareness formation has been playing a very important role, when their own experiences and existing knowledge are not enough to fully understand the transgenic things, public risk perception tend to rely on the news media reports of transgenic. In the context of risk society, how domestic reports on gene in recent years show unexpected situation and become the social focus of public debate, and what role does the mass media’s GM reports play? This study and research want to achieve the purpose of the spread of the dilemma of transgenic reports, and what kind of news production and communication mode can help media reports get out of the paradox of genetically modified technology.This paper selects three kinds of newspapers,including People’s Daily、Science And Technology Daily and Nanfang Metropolis Daily as the objects of study. Focusing on the "uncertainty" issue and news information production of genetically modified technology reports. The analysis of the number of reports, genre, topic and news sources of the transgenic plants revealed that there was a bias in the knowledge production of transgenic plants. The issues on the construction of ethics and risk, led directly to the public for transgenic "risk" image of self cognition; the use of conventional single source information and news, resulting in a report of transgenic tobacco experts leading, official aphasia, the public from the argument order of discourse.Combined with the analysis and research, the domestic newspaper reports on gene should achieve better risk communication effect by the flowing aspects: first of all, complying with the principle of balanced report. Secondly, promoting media organization’s knowledge level and cultivating journalistic professionalism spirit. The third is cultivation of media literacy of the public. The fourth is to participate in the establishment of the mode of news.
