In recent years, along with the development of social economy and improvement of people’s living standards, the consumer electronics market continues to grow. Handheld mobile devices with multi-touch screen are occupying both people’s work and life. In addition to the touch-based interface interaction, with rapid development of computer technology, research in all kinds of new interactive technology has become a hot topic in the field of human-computer interaction. Rapid increases in hardware have made technology no longer a major obstacle to the application of technology. The need to find and create a user interaction design that matches current technology has become a huge challenge. The portability and mobility feature of handheld mobile devices determine the limited nature of its user interface. Handheld mobile devices, however, are functioning in various scenarios, so the complexity of its user interface is difficult to avoid. This creates a contradiction. Thus, this paper, based on gesture-based interaction application, propose a new way of interaction, trying to resolve this conflict. This paper summarizes domestic and foreign researches in handheld mobile devices, multi-touch gesture. Then interaction gesture of existing software operating system platform are described and analyzed. According to context-based interactive design process, a brand-new stopwatch and timer application is designed and developed. Then the fully developed app was tested on new users. Then based on test results, product functionality was optimized. Finally, based on the results of this practice, the conclusion is made that the prospect of mobile interaction design gestures is promising.
