Abstract/Summary:
LTE is the next generation evolution technology of the wireless mobile communication after 3G, and it can be deployed in a variety of spectral range and operating scenarios and can be widely used in wireless communication field. Most of the world communication operators announced that the LTE will be the first choice of the technology used by the next generation system of wireless communication. LTE uses Turbo coding, OFDM modulation, MIMO and many key technologies which make the encoding efficierrcy, bandwidth efficiency and transmission rate better. With Britain Vodafone, Japan NTTDoCoMo, U.S.A AT&T and China Mobile, the world’s leading communication operators making the LTE technology commercial, the theoretical significance and commercial value of LTE is also increasingly evident.Altera DE2-115 development platform is used in the design which implemented the downlink LTE physical layer baseband signal processing in the FPGA. The process of the baseband signal may be divided into channel encoding and channel modulation. The channel encoding is comprised of CRC24(Cyclic Redundancy Check), Turbo coding, rate matching, channel interleaving and so on.The channel modulation is comprised of scrambling, QAM16 modulation(quadrature amplitude modulation), layer mapping, precoding, resource mapping, OFDM modulation processing and so on.This thesis focused on the physical layer downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in the LTE and the baseband processing system may process the encoding and modulation of the 1.4Mhz bandwidth baseband signal. This thesis used Modelsim software simulating the function of the system and used the Altera Signaltap II tool to debug the hardware platform. The Signaltap II tool analyzed the board-level signal and verified the accuracy of the baseband signal processing system. The test proved that the baseband signal processing system achieved the desired function and can be real-time and accurate.So it can be used as a LTE prototype system.
