Along with the rapid development of wireless communication technologies, the contradiction between the traditional fixed spectrum allocation and the ever-increasing demands of spectrum resource is becoming increasingly prominent. Cognitive radio(CR) that employs spectrum sensing, analysis, decision etc., is able to achieve intellectual and dynamic utilization of spectrum resource. Multi-antenna is another important technique in the development of wireless communications. By deploying multiple antennas in the receiver and transmitter, this method could effectively improve the throughput and reliability of wireless communications system without increasing system bandwidth and total transmission power. As the research goes deeper, multi-antenna technology was introduced to CR. The performance of wireless communication system can be remarkably enhanced via the design of two-dimensional space-time signals and coding. In addition, the spatial degree of freedom introduced by MIMO made it possible for cognitive users and primary users to overlap in time and frequency dimensions, which consequently improves the transmission performance of cognitive service and system’s spectrum utilization efficiency.This paper first studies and concludes some CR-MIMO resource management algorithms. Then modularization is implemented in terms of the function of the above algorithms. Based on this, a modular-based realization framework of CR-MIMO resource allocation algorithms is presented. The framework covers the studied CR-MIMO algorithms and has good extendibility. According to the above discussion, a platform for simulating and demonstrating CR-MIMO resource management is designed and developed incorporating with the studying on some implementation schemes of simulation demos. The platform is based on Client/Server(C/S) model, and employs mixed programming of Visual C++ and Matlab based on Matcom as well as network programming in Windows environment. By differing the functions of cognitive and primary system properly, two computers are employed to simulate the two systems. By means of the developed simulation demo platform, users can easily realize dynamic demonstration of resource management in CR-MIMO system. The simulation demo software shows good extendibility and generality. Users only need to modify some codes in the current software or replace the algorithm modular embedded in thesoftware, and then the simulation and demonstration to similar algorithms can be realized. Moreover, the platform shows good demonstration effect, i.e., it could give users a visualized and dynamic demonstration of resource management algorithms.
