Smart meter data collection is the foundation of remote meter reading system. It is mainly designed to complete meter data collection, processing and transmission. The traditional method is to get water meter information manually and then enter them into the database. This method is time-consuming and costly, and has poor accuracy. With the development of wireless transmission technology, GPRS technology has been applied in the meter data collection. In some areas, the meter data is directly sent to the server with the meter equipped with GPRS module on it. The meter data can be collected in this way. But the cost is very high, so it does not apply to ordinary water meter data collection. Therefore, a wireless data acquisition system is designed in this paper using the distributed acquisition method. In this system, the sub-nodes collect and aggregate data, and then transmit them to the master node though the wireless module. And the primary nodes then do some additional treatment such as remote transmitting. This solution solves the complicated wiring problems in the wired data collection system. And meter data is aggregated into sub-node wireless via MBUS and then transmitted to the primary node by wireless module, so the cost is lower than direct remote data collection. The system uses the low-power design methods, sub-nodes of data acquisition can be powered by batteries.Based on a wireless transmission module Si4432 developed by American Silicon Labs, a smart meter wireless data acquisition system is designed in this paper. The water consumption is measured by the double reed switches and the smart meter is connected to the sub-node of data acquisition via MBUS. The sub-node of data acquisition gets smart meter reading data, and then transmits data to the summary node through Si4432. Users can also send commands to the primary data collection node through the wireless module Si4432, and then the command can be transmitted to the smart meter via MBUS to complete the corresponding control. System component, various strategies and software design processes are discussed in detail. And a brief introduction to the considerations of PA and LNA design of Si4432 is included. After the system design, a comprehensive test is implemented. And the test results show that each function can be executed successfully. Data can be collected and transmitted using this system with a high reliability.
