Indoor space is where is most close to people’s life, and it therefore contributes a wide practical value to the indoor localization algorithm. Since the factors which affect the indoor environment are complicated, and the indoor environment has its own particularity, the high-precision and cost-effective positioning is still a challenge to implement. There are a lot of indoor positioning technologies in the current stage, such as infrared, ultrasonic, bluetooth, UWB, RFID technology and so on. These techniques have their own advantages in different situations, but comprehensively speaking, RFID positioning technology has become the preferred in indoor positioning technology because of its strong anti-interference ability, short recognition time, large amount of storage data and low cost. But during the implementation of RFID technology, the positioning system is difficult to deploy due to its obvious influence from the noise, and its maintainment is extremely inconvenient, so there exists a lot of room to improve in the stability of the system, positioning accuracy, targeting efficiency and so on.According to the existing indoor location algorithm, this paper, based on UHF RFID technology, puts forward the improvement of VIRE localization algorithm, which has more superior performance and a higher practical value. The content structure is as followed:Based on RFID localization algorithm, this paper firstly introduces the RFID localization algorithm’s background and achievement on the present stage. Secondly, by combining the characteristics of the indoor environment, it introduces several kinds of the RFID positioning technology which are commonly used : TOA, TDOA, AOA, RSSI, and two kinds of mainstream RFID localization algorithm, namely LANDMARC algorithm and VIRE algorithm. Furthermore, by comparing these technologies and algorithms, and explaining the characteristics and problems, it mainly discusses how to improve VIRE algorithm. Finally, it compares the improved VIRE algorithm to the original VIRE algorithm by simulation to verify that it has a better positioning accuracy, and it has been improved in other aspects of performance.
