Currently, the demand of high-speed data transmission becomes more widespread in aerospace and military field, especially in the target characteristics capture systems based on the weapon systems or satellite platforms and data collection systems. IEEE1394 b is a kind of high-speed serial bus, which performs strong real-time, high reliability and wide application. Optical transmission technology has good ability to resist electromagnetic interference and the advantage of long transmission distance. According to the both advantages, the optical transmission technology based on the IEEE1394 can adapt to the current demand of embedded data transmissions, high speed, long distance and high real-time well, it has a broad application prospect. Therefore, this topic mainly launches the research work about optical data transmission module based on the IEEE1394 b.The requirement analysis of technical specifications of this project was made firstly in this thesis, then, the general scheme of hardware and software program were designed. FPGA was selected as the core controller of this module. and we research the hardware key technology about IEEE1394 b data transmission on optical fiber, for example, the PCI bus controller was build using on-chip system to control the link layer interface of IEEE1394 b. The physical layer matching circuit of electrical light conversion was designed through simulation using Pspice. Regarding to the developmental demand of the convenience of porting the IEEEE1394 b data driver to different embedded system, the IEEE1394 b data driver was implemented in the soft kernel Nios II of FPGA. Meanwhile, in order to test the function of the module and analyze the data better, the host computer based on Lab Windows/CVI was developed. On the basis of the IEEE1394 b optical data transmission, to solve the network topology limitations that IEEE1394 b bus cannot enter the optical fiber network route, the development of IP nucleus that mapping the IEEE1394 b protocol to FC protocol was completed. Besides, the interconnection between IEEE1394 b bus and fibre channel bus was also accomplished. Finally, a corresponding test scheme was proposed according to the function of this module and the test and verification of the hardware and software of this module were made.The testing and verification results show that, every hardware part and software programs can work coordinately. All kinds of functions can meet the requirement of the task.
