The diversity of transmission media and communication protocols results in the problem of a number of incompatible networks and systems in coal mines. In order to solve the data integration and transmission problems of heterogeneous networks, gateway devices are usually used to implement protocol conversion in different formats. The protocol conversion function of existing gateway device is single, and the function is basically realized by software, so real-time performance of data conversion is weak. With the improvement of communication rate of Ethernet, gateways are also put forward higher requirements. Then gateways with multiple interfaces, high efficiency, high stability and adapting to a variety of transmission media and communication protocol have a larger market demand. Therefore, this thesis designs a kind of comprehensive gateway which is rich of interface, high stability, low cost and fast. It achieves protocol conversion between Ethernet and RS-232/RS-485/CAN by the FPGA hardware, and real-time data transmission is ensured. What is more, Web network management software is designed, which can make convenience for remote management of device.Firstly, this thesis discusses the design of mine comprehensive gateway from both hardware and software architecture. Taking into development cycle, cost, product features and other requirements account, this thesis maps out hardware and software architecture of mine comprehensive gateway. Among them, hardware architecture is combined by dedicated VLSI module and FPGA module which realizes protocol conversion through hardware, while the software architecture is based on an embedded Linux operating system. In hardware architecture, VLSI module selects Gigabit Ethernet switch module, DSL high-speed data transmission module and high-speed wireless communication module, meanwhile FPGA internal protocol conversion is designed by VHDL language. In application layer, implementation of network management module based on Web uses a multi-process management model and a multi-threaded architecture to complete the management of multiple tasks.Finally, protocol conversion function and Web network management function of the comprehensive gateway are tested and verified. The results show that the gateway can complete protocol conversion between RS-232/RS-485/CAN and Ethernet. Users can configure and manage mine comprehensive gateway through the Web. Above all, the gateway has achieved the prospective goals.
