Design And Realization Of Soft Gateway Based On Twisted Framework For GPS Device Protocol Conversion

With the development of economy, the automobile has become one of the most important vehicle. With the increase of the number of vehicles, road traffic intelligent appeared more new market demand. GPS monitoring system based on GPS location technology, sensor technology and GIS technology, as the major solution has been widely applied to various vehicles transport demand management. With the development of the vehicle monitoring system, there have been many mature GPS vehicle terminal equipment on the market. In order to keep the flexibility and scalability of the functions and protocols, these equipment offen has been deeply custom-developed based on private protocol by their manufacturers. These private protocols of different equipment have brought a series of problems of data compatibility between server and terminals, processing complexity of server-side, limited scalability of system, and etc.Based on the study of GPS monitoring system architecture, according to the characteristics of the most GPS terminal equipment and the monitoring server interactive protocol, this paper designs a soft gateway for gps device protocol conversion based on Twisted framework. The soft gateway has been developed by Python script language, and using Twisted nonblocking network framework for the realization of network communication part. It uses the Python/C API to design the protocol conversion part, in order to improve the process efficiency and flexibility. It also implements the authentication of access terminal equipment.This proposal could keep the uniform of session communication and data format, without the need of custom modifications to existing vehicle GPS terminal equipment, and also strengthened the data expansion ability. It plays a key role in whole GPS monitoring system.
