It is a popular form of TV show that helps people to solve difficulties they met. These shows mainly aim at helping audience with their problems. By using the advantages of public media, such as communication, supervision of public opinion and the guidance of public opinion, these shows are building a bridge between common people and the government, and in the meantime, helping improving the effectiveness of public welfare. As a result, these shows have a relatively good reputation, audience rating and ad income.However, it could also be controversial. First, the intervention of media has raised the suspicions of media being not objective and off side. Second, although the intension of such shows is to help people and to the “good thing”, they may have negative effects on unspecified third party. For example, when the show is revealing the process of helping particular people, the privacy of people may be exposed to the public without their consent. Third, the individual cases in which media trying to help certain people or organization doesn’t have universality. It can’t fully give play to media’s function of guiding public opinion. In the end, there are people who misguide the film crew by providing one-side story or even false information, to realize their own unjustifiable claim. Such behaviors are weakening the image of such TV show as public welfare helper.Besides, these TV shows aim to help people. Solve the problem is the key. However, the result is often not so desirable.To tackle with such problems above, this paper will further explore ways to improve TV shows aim to help people, including adjusting the position of media in filming process, improving agenda settings, improving the professionalism of reporters, reducing the negative effects, nurturing audience, introducing offline activities and new media interactions. The aim is to further invigorate this form of TV shows.
