The products collaborative design base on Web is a kind of method which can realize the sharing of design resource under the distributed network environment. By establishing the collaborative design system, designers distributed in different regions and the relevant design knowledge are integrated together effectively, improving the efficiency of product design, shorting the product design cycle and helping enterprise to improve the competitiveness and win the market. In this paper, the planning process of collaborative design tasks are studied based on the design of mechanical design; aiming at the deficiency existing in design knowledge representation and knowledge push, extension theory is applied to knowledge representation and knowledge push and it is also well applied to collaborative design system.Firstly, by studying from architecture of network collaborative design and analyzing the merits and demerits of main system design structure nowadays, design structure of collaborative design system is set. According to the collaborative design working mode based on Web, the system architecture of mechanical products collaborative design is established. And network topology structure of collaborative design system is designed by combining the collaborative design features. Secondly, the type of mechanical product design task is analyzed; the fundamental principle and process of work breakdown was proposed; the relationship among each design task is characterized by using design structure matrix; As to the coupled task set, decoupling method based on split algorithm is adopted to decouple design task; Task allocation model is also established to allocate tasks to the most appropriate designer. Thirdly, aiming to the design knowledge distributed in different regions of collaborative design, element modeling is done by using formalized extension element; the element extension set is constructed; collaborative design knowledge of mechanical product is pushed to the relative designer according to the extension model of knowledge push. Finally, main function modules of collaborative design system are planned and mechanical products collaborative design system based on Web is developed by using SSH, JSP, SQL Server and Tomcat and so on.
