The Uighur floating population has always been a concern of the community, by the influence of "double weak" position, they encountered so many problems in the urban society. In Guangzhou, due to the large number of floating population, the highly developed media,Uighur floating population under more complex pressure as the vulnerable groups, self-esteem is an important index to reflect the emotional health of this community, and studying on self esteem and lead of communication media has practical and theoretical significance.Combined with theories of Psychology and Communication, this study completed a questionnaire on the immigrant Uighur floating population in Guangzhou, investigating the level of self-esteem and media contact of this community, and attempted to use quantitative analysis method to explore the relationship between self-esteem and media. The study found that the immigrant Uighur floating population in Guangzhou has a high level of self-esteem; is more likely to obtain information from the channel of new media, but the negative information is more than positive information. It found that there were significant correlation with self-esteem and lead of communication media, the authenticity and prejudice of the Uygur reports is related to the personal self-esteem of the subjects, the prejudice is no correlation with the national pride, through the analysis of the relationship between self-esteem and lead of communication media.Finally, this paper puts forward four suggestions to the city management on self-esteem and media current status of the immigrant Uighur floating population, strengthening the guidance of public opinion and the "gatekeeper", making full use of the new media, strengthening the care of this community and improving the social support network.
