| Being a patriotic, progressive and honest journalist, Zhang You luan spent all his life working for the press and publication industry. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he published two famous journalistic books called Newspaper in Wartime and Running a Newspaper in the Enemy’s Rear. During the period of war journalism, his ideas on news, especially on the definition of news, are quite representative and pioneering; During the period of anti-rightist struggle, his understanding of the status of the journalists and newspapers positioning is quite significant; his theory of popular journalism practice still has a realistic reference value for today’s journalists.
